Vizuro’s Apotek Wins Silver Award in Cross-disciplinary Excellence Category at the 2026 Taipei Biotech Awards
On September 30, 2026, the Vizuro / Apotek team attended the Taipei Biotech Awards ceremony, where Apotek received the second place (Silver) in the Cross-disciplinary Excellence Award category. This recognition marks an important milestone in Apotek team’s efforts to integrate multimodal AI and biomedical expertise to advance drug asset redevelopment.
Often referred to as “Taiwan’s biotech Oscars”, the Taipei Biotech Awards are organized by the Taipei City Government and open to companies across Taiwan, recognizing outstanding achievements in the country’s biotechnology industry. The Cross-disciplinary Excellence category focuses on the integration and application of technologies across disciplines, with assessment criteria covering R&D innovation, market potential, intellectual property strategy, and team execution capabilities. Only one Gold, one Silver, and one Bronze award are awarded in this category. This year, 35 judges evaluated 151 applications, with just 20 companies receiving awards—an overall selection rate of approximately 13%.
Receiving Silver is an important external recognition of Apotek’s approach to combining AI and biomedical expertise in drug asset redevelopment. It also encourages us to continue building on Taiwan’s strong scientific capabilities and biotechnology achievements through experimental validation and industry collaboration, translating them into drug assets with global development and licensing potential. Our goal is moving AI beyond molecular design and help guide the next development decisions for drug assets.

From Scientific Evidence to Actionable Drug Development Decisions
Understanding a drug asset’s development potential often requires examining it from different perspectives. Existing biological, clinical, and molecular data may reveal opportunities for new therapeutic applications or molecular optimization directions. Integrating multimodal evidence, elucidating causal mechanisms, and identifying redevelopment opportunities with the potential to reduce risk and accelerate development are central to Apotek’s work.
Apotek integrates Causal AI and Generative AI, starting from a drug, target, or indication to identify redevelopment opportunities and redesign to optimize drug candidates. Our AI-native virtual biotech workflows also support subsequent experimental and development planning. We aim to translate AI analysis into actionable insights for drug development teams.
Cross-disciplinary Collaboration: Bringing AI Insights into Experimental Validation
At Apotek, cross-disciplinary collaboration is embedded in every drug development decision. Teams across AI, disease biology, drug development, and commercialization contribute to shared assessments, while experimental results help continuously test assumptions and refine development directions.
Apotek currently has four drug development programs spanning proprietary and collaborative projects, including small molecules and protein therapeutics. Two proprietary oncology small-molecule assets have entered in vivo validation.
Through collaboration with academic and industry partners, we continue to connect AI with wet-lab feedback, building development capabilities that can be applied to a broader range of drug assets.

Building on Validation Results to Advance Partnerships
From its incubation at Vizuro to the establishment of Apotek Biotechnologies Inc. n the U.S. in 2026, Apotek has continued to build a foundation for drug asset redevelopment and international collaboration. Moving forward, the team will focus on experimental validation of its pipeline programs and subsequent preclinical development planning, while pursuing opportunities for co-development, asset licensing, and investment.
We thank the Taipei Biotech Awards organizers for this recognition, as well as our partners and team members for their continued support. We look forward to working with pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, and investors to connect science and industry through AI and help more promising drug assets find their next development opportunity.
